The Motorola ET1 Tablet is for enterprise businesses, yet uses Android OS with enhanced security features… could this be the end of blackberry devices?
Motorola Solutions recently announced the release of the ET1 Enterprise Tablet, a secure, durable and easy-to-use tablet ideal for retail applications that will ultimately enhance the customer experience.
The Motorola ET1 Enterprise Tablet features:
- Communications: WLAN, WPAN, GPS
- Data Capture: Front camera, rear camera, video
- Performance: 1GB RAM, 4 GB Flash, 4 GB microSD, supports up to 32 G microSD, Android 2.3.4 w/ enhanced enterprise functionality, OMAP 4 dual-core 1 GHz x2 +DSP
- Physical Characteristics: two USB interfaces, micro SDHC card slot, ambient light sensor, expanison port, 7”, 1.4 lbs., 5.14 in. H x .98 in D x 8.82 in W
- Power: 4620 mAH rechargeable Smart Li-Ion battery
- User Environment: IP54 rated, withstands multiple 4 ft. drops
Most intriguing, is that the ET1 is an enterprise-class device that uses Android OS. Android has been known as a consumer-class OS, but Mororola Solutions was able to add new security features, including data encryption, remote lock and wipe and application permissions, in order to offer a heightened level of security.

Absolutely. As much as I love my Blackberry and I’m sure the iphone is nice, Android sales are surging to 48.5% of device sales as of Q3, 2011 with 3 other major OS choices in addition to all of the feature phones. Android is dominating consumer and business device sales, as an OS, its sure to take over Enterprise as well in the form of tablets, handhelds and smartphones.
