While we’ve often discussed mobile ticketing, we were happy to announce our involvement with MissionTix.com, an online ticketing service.
Through the use of our software CaptureSoft™ eXpress venues will be able to use handheld mobile devices to scan barcodes from both printed tickets and those displayed on a smartphone screen. This offers a great benefit to ticket holders, who will no longer have to take the time and find the resources to print their tickets, but can rather simply display their ticket on their phone, provided that they have internet access. By using CaptureSoft eXpress, the barcode scanners will be able to recognize and scan the ticket’s barcode on screen, all while tracking admitted tickets into the system in real-time.
Mobile ticketing is truly revolutionizing the entertainment industry, offering customers the convenience they crave and venues the tracking they need. Missiontix.com’s new system with CaptureSoft eXpress will make its debut this June at the Recher Theatre in Towson, MD.

Although the economy may be down, it seems as though more and more companies are finding the value in RFID technology. Investing in RFID systems now is a smart move for the future so that when things begin to pick up, companies who have invested in RFID will excel within their industry.
Some museums in the industry are starting to take advantage of RFID technology to enhance viewer experience and their own inventory tracking. For example, the Museum of Siena University has begun to use RFID to allow customers to email themselves information about the exhibits they viewed before ever leaving the museum.
At the Cleveland Museum of Art, they will be using RFID to get a better understanding of patron interests and preferences. RFID tags will collect detailed information about how patrons use the museum, what exhibits are most interesting. Basically, they will be gathering statistics on patron’s viewing habits in order to provide the best content.
The Danish Museum of Natural History has even launched an RFID-based exhibit on birds to better educate and entertain its visitors.
Aside from enhancing customer experience, the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York will be using RFID to track their works of art.
Implementing RFID technology will definitely set these museums above the rest and it will be interesting to see the adoption rate for RFID at other museums.

While more and more hospitals are implementing barcode based systems for patient wristbands and prescription bottles, there has been much discussion throughout the blogosphere over using Microsoft Tag throughout other parts of the healthcare
industry.
Proponents of using Microsoft Tag for healthcare purposes believe that, while there is an abundance of information out there, it’s not always easy to get the right information to the right people at the right time. Healthcare professionals, much like the general public, do not always have time to perform research in their day to day activities, so the information needs to come to them. With the capabilities of turning cell phones into a barcode scanner, the possibilities for retrieving information instantly are endless.

Just as with any other industry, Bakers that mass-produce goods need to be able to easily ship, deliver and sell their goods once they leave the factory. At the Canadian Bakery Showcase, Zebra Technologies spoke with various companies in the baking industry, ranging from yeast suppliers to baked goods producers. Despite their differences, they all had one common belief; transitioning from handwritten receipt printing to being able to print transaction records or conduct transactions in the field would add up to a lot of time and money saved.
Just cutting out a few steps a day can add up to a lot of time in the course of a month or year. Aside from saving time, everyone agreed that handwriting errors and discrepancies would be eliminated with printed receipts.
