Recently. I wrote about Tikitag and it’s ability to link real-world objects with the online world through the use of RFID tags. Now, Tikitag has changed its name it Touchatag, and offers even more innovative solutions.
In addition to RFID tags, the new touchatag will also support the use of 2D barcodes/ QR codes. In addition, there’s a Firefox plug-in that can be assigned to a RFID tag or 2D barcode immediately from your browser and link to the website that is in current view. There’s even a Twitter application, that allows you to link a Twitter update to a RFID tag or 2D barcode / QR code. With Touchatag, you can now configure up to four reader dependent actions!
Touchatag uses high frequency RFID operating at 13.56MHZ, with passive RFID tags and active readers. In addition, Touchatag is compatible with Near Field Communication, so you can use it with any NFC enabled phone. Today, the Nokia 6212 Classic NFC is available, but others include:

- BenQ T80
- Motorola L7 NFC
- Samsung SGH-D500E NFC
- Samsung SG x700n NFC
- Sagem-Orga my700x NFC
- Nokia 3220 NFC
